¨ When is the Hunter Sight In?

¨ For 2008, the Sight-In dates are: October TBD  November TBD  November TBD

¨  What time is the Sight In?

¨ Shooting times are from 9am to 4pm each day of the Sight In.  Registration opens at 8:45am.

¨  What types of guns can I sight in?

¨ Hartland Sportsman’s Club can assist you in sighting in hunting rifles, pistols, shotguns and black powder rifles and pistols.  

¨  What distances are available to sight in?

¨ The Club has both 100 yard (primarily for rifles) and 50 yard (primarily for pistols, shotguns and black powder guns) available.  Special requests to sight in pistols or shotguns at 100 yards can be accommodated.  Please talk to the Line Officer on duty.

¨  How much does it cost to sight in my gun?

¨ The cost is $6.00 per gun to sight in.  Once your gun is sighted in, you also have a FREE ticket for one try at the Hunter Games.

¨  Where is the Club?  How do I get there?

¨ From the intersection of I-94 and Hwy 83:  Go north on Hwy to the frontage road (Golf Road).   Turn east onto Golf Road.  Go approximately 1 mile. You will pass the Kohl’s Department Store, Sentry Foods and the Delafield Town Hall.  At the first stop sign (Maple Avenue), turn south (under the freeway).  Go south on Maple Avenue approximately 1/3 mile.  The entrance to HSC is on the right.  A map is available here.

¨  Is hearing and eye protection required to shoot?

¨ Hearing protection is required for shooters, and strongly advised for guests, especially children. Foam earplugs are available for purchase at the check in desk.  Eye protection is strongly recommended for shooters.

¨  Can I sight in my own gun?

¨ Absolutely!  At HSC, we have experienced staff at each shooting point to assist you. They will help you get sighted in, but you will shoot your own gun.

¨  I am in a hurry.  Can I get someone to just shoot my gun for me to be sure it is still sighted in?

¨ Yes, we do offer an express service, where one of our experienced shooters will verify your sights. Tell the Line Officer that you would like the Express Service.

¨ My son or daughter will be hunting with for the first time this year.  Can we both sight in with my gun?  

¨ Advise the Line Officer that you would both like to sight in with the same gun.  Every effort will be made to accommodate your request.

¨ How old must a youth hunter be to Sight In at HSC?

¨ If a young hunter is eligible, under DNR rules, to purchase a gun deer hunting license, she/he may sight in at HSC.  Please tell the Line Officer on duty if you have a first-time hunter sighting in.

¨  Can I be with my son or daughter on the firing line as they sight in?

¨ For safety reasons, only the shooter and the firing line coach may be at the shooting bench.  Parents and other visitors may watch from behind the fence, which is just behind the firing line.

¨  Is there a gunsmith available to bore sight my new scope or fix my gun?

¨ Yes.  On the November weekends of Sight In, there will be a gunsmith available for bore sighting and minor repairs.  Prices for standard services will be posted.  This service is for MINOR repairs only.  Major or time-consuming repairs will be referred to a local gun store.

¨  Do you have a Running Deer Target?

¨ Yes, we offer you the opportunity to try your skills at the Running Deer target and also with the Hunter Games.  Running Deer and Hunter Games are available only on the November weekends.

¨  How fast does the Running Deer go?

¨ The running deer target is set at about 17 miles per hour.  A deer in full run can attain speeds over 30 miles per hour.

¨  What are Hunter Games?

¨ HSC offers a variety of skill and accuracy games, set at 100 yards, to test your shooting abilities.  Try your hand at breaking a row of balloons in the shortest time, tipping the water jugs on a rail, popping clay birds, the size of a deer heart, at 100 yds. and more.  It is fun and challenging.  Bring along some extra ammo!   Challenge your friends to see who the best shot is!

¨  Does the Club sell ammunition at the Sight In?

¨ No.  For insurance and legal reasons, the Club is not allowed to sell ammunition.  There is a Wal-Mart within a mile of the Club and several other retail outlets within 5 miles, where ammunition may be purchased.  

¨  Is there open shooting/practice available during the Sight In?

¨ No.  HSC, a private club, provides the Sight In as a public service to the hunting community in Southeastern Wisconsin.  

¨  Is the Club open for Sight In or practice shooting on weekdays?

¨ No.  HSC is a private club.  Membership is required to shoot at the Club, unless an event, such as the Hunter Sight In, Trap League, a Rifle or Pistol match, is designated as open to the public.  Check the clubs calendar for a list of upcoming events.
